Nowadays, the youth needs to be aware of the fragility of our ecosystem. It is also necessary to teach them how to respect nature: this is the concept of Afqa reserve, also known as “La Reserve”. Located in Mnaitra, in the heights of Jbeil, this leisure center lies in the heart of nature, on a thousand-square meter-green land. It is the first ecotourism center in the Lebanese mountains. All nature lovers and adventurers can spend great moments by practicing some outdoor sports and numerous other activities.

Some keywords can be kept in mind concerning this great reserve that combines natural and cultural richness: archeological remnants (the temple of Adonis and Ashtarout, the Roman cemeteries…), caves (Roueiss, Afqa, Mar Youhanna), valleys and hills with breathtaking views, high plateaus, shepherd kingdoms, orchards, and natural sources...
“La Reserve” Afqa also aims at spreading ecotourism among Lebanese and foreign tourists in order to preserve those natural treasures.

This Reserve wants to participate in the development of the rural zones and seeks a “sustainable ecotourism”. It gives interest to nature protection and ecological development in such a country that embraces great touristy resources.

From mid-April to mid-November, outdoor activities are proposed to families (as well as schools, universities, institutions, and companies). They are supervised by a team that is permanently coached by the French mountain climbing school (l’Ecole française d’escalade). This team is present during tours, mountain walks or cycling…Many team sports, like volleyball or basketball, are available as well.

An original lodging is proposed: Visitors can either sleep in tents or in wood cabins in the heart of the forest…
