This reserve is 3.5 km far from the North of Ehden: a calm and prosperous village of Middle-Ages origins that is famous for its Souk.
Covered with snow, or touched by sun rays, the forest mountain mass is exceptionally rich. It is certainly the ideal place to stroll in all seasons.
Moreover, the Lebanese writer Jabbour Douaihy won the Saint-Exupéry Prize in May 2000 thanks to the book he wrote about this famous nature reserve: “The Soul of Horch Ehden Forest” (L’âme de la forêt Horch Ehden).
The fauna and the flora are of an amazing diversity in this reserve. In fact, it shelters a variety of rare species: 23 reptile and amphibian species (different kinds of snakes), a great variety of birds (falcons, pelicans, and eagles…) including 57 rare species like wood pigeon, 1030 species of plants and flowers, and 39 tree species (pine, fir, and cedar trees).
Horch Ehden Reserve is a very important pole for tourism. It welcomes numerous tourists and visitors during the year. Many tourism and sports activities that suit all ages and tastes are available, like: excursions, ornithology, VTT, and mountain climbing. Many tours and guided visits are also proposed to tourists on the ground.
