Minister of Tourism considers the issue of the rule of the pubs of Gemmayzé
April 10, 2007

After complaints from inhabitants of Gemmayzé were registered, Minister of the Tourism Joe Sarkis chaired yesterday a meeting to examine the question of the malpractices committed by some owners of pubs. The meeting was held in the presence of the mohafez of Beirut on an interim basis Nassif Kallouche, of the general manager of the ministry of the Tourism Nada Sardouk, of the president of the municipality of Beirut Abdel Monhem Ariss, of the leader of the tourist police the general Antoine Maarrawi, and of the leader of the gendarmerie of Gemmayzé Commander Charles Saadé,. The discussion concerned the search for adequate solutions to organize and regulate the activities of the tourist institutions of the district of Gemmayzé while protecting as well the peace of mind of the citizens as the interest of the owners of tourist institutions. This meeting follows upon a preliminary meeting which had held the Minister Joe Sarkis with the owners of pubs, cafes and restaurants of Gemmayzé, and the local residents.
