Did anyone know that the iPod creator is of Lebanese origin? Yes, believe it or not, the Lebanese Computer engineer Anthony M. Fadell became the Senior Vice President of the iPod Division at Apple Inc. after bringing the iPod idea to life…Who is this man?

Tony Fadell was born in 1969 to Lebanese parents. He graduated from Michigan University with a BS in Computer Engineering in 1991. Afterwards, he worked for General Magic as a hardware and software architect for three years. In 1995, he became co-founder, Chief Technology Officer, and Director of Engineering of the mobile Computing group at Philips Electronics, where he was responsible for all aspects of business and product development for a variety of products.

In the nineties, Fadell started his own company called “Fuse” to develop one of the devices he had in mind: a small hard disk-based music player. However, “Fuse” failed because Fadell did not find a second round of funding. Therefore, he presented his ideas to other companies. He first went to RealNetworks in 2000, but left after only six weeks. Then he got in touch with Apple.

In February 2001, he started working for Apple where he has managed the design and production of iPod and iSight devices; he was the Senior Director of the Company's iPod Engineering Team. In 2004, he was promoted to vice president of iPod engineering. Then, in March 2006, Fadell became Senior Vice President of the iPod Division at Apple.

Fadell already predicted in 2001 that the iPod project “Is going to be a music business, not a computer business". This business was dreamed up by this Lebanese engineer and the dream came true, for iPod is very popular around the world nowadays… Thanks to this tiny little instrument, music can accompany you everywhere without even feeling it!
