The United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Agency, the INTEL Company and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have named two newly discovered planets in the honor of two Lebanese students. The planets, “Sana” and “Dina,” were named after Sana Abdul Halim Zaidan and Dina Wafik Kaddoura, both from the City of Saida. Zaidan and Kaddoura invented, with the help of their Faith Islamic College classmate, Zahra Maarouf, a tool that empowers blind people to use computers, the invention won the second prize of Intel international forum – Mexico in 2007.

The Planet Dina was discovered on March 31, 1998 while Sana was discovered on January 19, 2001. Zaidan and Kaddoura received certificates of the planets along with their coordinates, to facilitate viewing them by telescope.

Zeidan and Kaddoura dedicated their achievement to MP Bahia Hariri and the memory of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri.
