It was certainly the worse game the Cedar team has played since many years. Within its first appearance since the final match it lost in the Asian Cup in July 2007, the Lebanese team won over the Syrian substitutes yesterday (71-67) in Jordan in its first game of the 9th West Asian basketball championship, which is taking place from June 19 to 21.
The game was wheezy and marked with many losses of balls and concentration jumps by the teammates of Fadi el Khatib. The latter was there exactly where he was needed and when he was needed: he was elected best player in the game.
Nevertheless, thanks to this success, the Lebanese team will be almost qualified for the Stankovic Cup (Asian Cup). The players of the coach Fouad Abou Chacra will have the opportunity to correct their shots, today at 8:00 pm (Beirut time) facing the modest Palestinian team. As for Jordan, which won over Palestine 99-47, it will be facing Syria at 6:00pm.
