Davis Cup: Lebanon Beats Saudi Arabia and Finishes Ahead of Poule A
July 21, 2007, 01h17 - updated

After Davis Cup’s first round of the Asia/Oceania Zone group in Colombo, the Lebanese tennis team won against Saudi Arabia 2-1. Lebanon had already won easily in his games against Singapore and the United Arab Emirates with a score of 3-0. However, Karim Alayli lived the first defeat of the week after losing against the number one Saudi Saleh Al-Raajeh 3-6, 6-3, and 7-5. But number one Lebanese player Bassam Beidas brought back the two countries to deuce with his victory over Tamer Antabi, 7-5, 6-1.

During the double (decisive in Davis Cup), Bassam Beidas was associated with Patrick Chucri: the two of them won the game against their enemies from Saudi Arabia, with a score of 6-1, 7-6. Therefore, Lebanon finished ahead of Poule A. He was supposed to confront Oman, the current leader of Poule B, in July 21.
