Child abuse - time to end the violence and neglect

According to those who work with abuse victims, baby battering and child abuse are problems that are often hushed up. Let’s try to understand this problem which has a direct impact on the entire community and not just the individuals directly involved.

Two-month-old Bilal lies recovering from serious injuries in Tripoli’s Islamic Hospital, a victim of a brutal beating allegedly at the hands of his father, Ahmad.

Ahmad, who has to support ten children from two marriages, reportedly said he was worried about his financial situation, became frustrated after arguing with his wife and wanted to stop baby Bilal crying.

Ahmad is now under arrest. Although Bilal’s case has come to public and police attention, baby battering and child abuse are problems that are often hushed up, say those who work with the victims.
