BEIRUT - The Italian government funded in Doueir (South Lebanon) a new olive oil mill and a new generator. Both were inaugurated yesterday, after a period of training program for local farmers to guarantee optimal use of the new equipment. The training program was organized by the NGO ICU (Istituto per la Cooperazione Universitaria) : this NGO also took care of the electrical and water networks, the internal and external finishes and procured the mill and generator.

The Doueir cooperative participated in this project by constructing the building which will house the new mill.

This is the fifth olive oil mill funded by Italy through ICU in the past year.
