BEIRUT - The committee of the families of the detainees in Syria held a press conference yesterday in the Gebran Khalil Gebran Garden in Riad El-Soleh, on the eve of the President Michel Suleiman’s visit to Paris.

The president of Solida, Ghazi Aad and several other representatives of NGO’s in addition to the families of the detainees were present. 

The conference began with a statement made by Sonia Eid on the behalf of the detainee’s families who pointed out a letter that has been faxed to President Nicholas Sarkozy, and will be handed to the French Embassy in Beirut. The letter urged President Sarkozy to include the issue of the Lebanese detainees in Syria on the dialogue table, and asked for the establishment of an international committee of investigation.
