Beirut Association for Social Development organizes yearly a major exhibition for Lebanese artists and encourages the young artists to develop and flourish their talents.
The organization was established in 1998 by its current President Salim Diab, along with Saleh Farroukh the General Manager. Back in 1998, the late Sheikh Rafik el Hariri was its Honorary President. However, after his assassination the title was given to his successor Sheikh Saad el Hariri who went on supporting the organization.
Beirut Association for Social Development became of a great assistance to the Lebanese talented artists to display their crafts and creation to a wider audience in the society. Afkart means creative ideas and that is their main focus as they welcome all artisans and artists from various styles as long as they present original work. The sole aim of the exhibition is to introduce these artists and encourage them to keep on working in an original and imaginative way. In addition, no financial profit comes back to the organization; it all goes to the support of the Lebanese art.
This year, Afkart exhibition will be held at Saifi Market, Down Town Beirut from Wednesday July 2 to July 6 where more than 70 talented artists will share the fascinating art. The show exposition will include paintings, ceramic crafts, fashion accessories, all Lebanese handmade.
"There are so many young talented artists in Lebanon that aren't able to show their work to a wider public, so the main goal of Afkart is to help them exhibit their work and introduce themselves to the Lebanese community", said M. Maha Masri, the public relation manager.
"Let them keep on working! We are doing our best to help and encourage them", she added.
