Lebanon's HĂ´tel-Dieu de France hosts first national Research Forum in Oncology

Hotel-Dieu de France University Hospital hosted last week in Beirut the 1st Research Forum in Oncology in collaboration with the Department of Hematology-Oncology and the Faculty of Medicine at Saint-Joseph University. Led by Lebanese Oncology experts, the forum communicated recent in-depth articles on the subject conducted by fellows and students at Hotel-Dieu de France University Hospital.
“This event highlights the involvement of the Lebanese oncologists in Research and Development of treatments in a country that remains the pioneer in the research field within the Arab world”, commented Professor Joseph Kattan, Head of Department of Hematology-Oncology at HDF.

“We believe that this event will become an annual and much anticipated event, gathering the Lebanese medical community and oncology experts, to strongly promote our national clinical research”, he added.

The organizers expect from the 1st Research Forum on Oncology to mark a shift in the research sector in Lebanon as it will become an annual event at Hotel-Dieu de France University Hospital.

The forum was led by Professor Joseph Kattan, Head of Hematology-Oncology Department at HDF, joined by a panel of medical experts: Father Michel Scheuer, Director of the Ethics Department at Saint-Joseph University, Professor Georges Chahine Hematologist-Oncologist at HDF, Professor Fadi Farhat Hematologist-Oncologist at HDF and Professor Marwan Ghosn, Hematologist-Oncologist at HDF.

Three award trophies were distributed by Professor Roland Tomb, dean of Faculty of Medicine at Saint-Joseph University to the authors of the standout publications. Each prize was awarded along with a sum amounting to 500 dollars.
