March 14 forces reject the veto power
July 01, 2009

BEIRUT - The March 14 alliance held its weekly meeting on Wednesday and issued a statement saying that they will not accept a cabinet that includes an obstructing third vote.

The statement also condemned the Aisha Bakkar clashes, and warned that “what happened in Aisha Bakkar is dangerous and requires judicial, security and military officials to act firmly to make the city safe.”

The statement called on "military, security and judicial officials to root out sedition by taking a definitive decision to turn Beirut into a safe and demilitarized zone."

On another note, March 14 said the designation of Saad Hariri for the premiership was "a natural and democratic" reflection of the elections outcome and parliamentary consultations. The ruling alliance also cautioned against a government shape-up "riddled with hindrances."
