BEIRUT - Minister of State Wael Abu Faour stated to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper that the outcome of the French president Sarkozi's visit to Damascus to hold harmful consequences to Lebanon.
He also stated his worry concerning the French president profound involvement in the Israeli-Syrian negotiations which might deepen diplomatic relations between Syria and France.
Abu Faour wished from the Lebanese political parties not to be influenced and give credit to Syria since there are still unsolved matters between the two countries that need to be cleared. According to Abu Faour Lebanese detainees in Syrian prisons and the Shebaa Farms remain unsettled issues.
On the other hand MP Atef Majdalani from Future Movement agreed with Minister of State Abu Faour stating that the March 8 didn't take any solid and transparent stand regarding the matter of the Lebanese detainees in Syrian prison due to the fact that most of the missing detainees are political prisoners. Majdalani also expressed his worry about the French-Syrian meeting and what it might affect the Lebanese file.
