BEIRUT- Speaker Nabih Berri told An-Nahar newspaper in an interview published on Friday that he will transfer the June municipal electoral draft law to the concerned parliamentary commissions.
He said that he does not mind holding joint commissions meetings in order to speed up the deliberations on the draft bill, voicing hope that it will be adopted by the parliament.
Berri also said that he is keen on holding the municipal elections as scheduled. According to other media reports, Amal Movement ministers Mohammad Jawad Khalifeh, Ali Shami and Ali Abdullah requested to note in the cabinet meeting minutes during its Thursday session their call for applying a proportional-representation system in the 2013 parliamentary elections.
