BEIRUT - Lebanese Forces MP, George Adwan, has downplayed the significance of MP Michel Aoun's visit to Walid Jumblatt at his Mukhtara home saying the visit was of no concern to the LF.
Adwan and, during an interview on a local TV network, said that true reconciliation already took place during Patriarch Sfeir's visit to the area in 2001.
The MP also underscored that Druze-Christian reconciliation has been cemented back in 2005 when the Lebanese Forces reached an understanding with the PSP. He duly said Aoun had no bearing whatsoever on the repatriation of the displaced to their homes and that it is up to the Lebanese state now to take care of this file.
Thanks to President Sleiman's intervention, the file of the displaced would soon be closed, Adwan added. He stressed state monopoly over the file of the defensive strategy saying that things could be worked out only on the table of National dialogue.
He concluded on a note that whatever helps civil peace and peaceful coexistence in the mountain or elsewhere would meet with full LF support.
