Adwan: Berri is acting as Amal leader not as the Speaker
iloubnan.info - January 04, 2010

BEIRUT – Lebanese Forces bloc MP Georges Adwan told LBC channel on Monday that Speaker Nabih Berri suggested abolishing political sectarianism in his capacity of Amal Movement leader not Speaker of the House. He said the role of the State must be recovered first and arms issue definitely settled before making such a suggestion.

As he pointed out that some parties considered that the Cedar revolution had collapsed and any of its proposals should not be considered anymore, Adwan confirmed that his party would keep on raising said issues, even if some parties would be bothered.

As for the administrative appointments, Adwan stressed that the State could not be established on the partitioning principle. He pointed out that the Lebanese Forces party wanted said appointments to be undergone according to the competency and in conformity with the principles of balance and equity.
