BEIRUT- In an interview with New TV on Saturday, Tawhid Movement leader Wiam Wahhab “advised” Prime Minister Saad Hariri to visit Syria through the mediation of Marada Movement leader MP Sleiman Franjieh.
He said the Syrian regime and Future Movement “broke the ice” with recent communications, adding that Hariri’s trip to Damascus will happen a few days after the parliamentary vote of confidence.
Wahhab announced he will visit Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt next week to discuss “why Jumblatt is not sure about his relationship with Syria.”
Wahhab denied that Syria applied “direct pressure” on Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun. He said, however, that former minister Elie Ferzli’s meeting with Aoun after his trip to Damascus “played a very important role” in finalizing the cabinet formation.
