Kanso : Sfeir’s rhetoric resembles that of Kataeb and LF
iloubnan.info - November 04, 2009
BEIRUT- In an interview with NBN television on Wednesday, State Minister Ali Kanso commented on Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir’s recent statement saying, “It does not resemble Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun’s rhetoric, but reminds us of the Kataeb Party and the Lebanese Forces.”

Kanso, a member of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), also responded to LF leader Samir Geagea’s Wednesday statement that the opposition wants to lead Lebanon into darkness, saying that the “elections do not require such fiery rhetoric, and they do not reflect the Lebanese public opinion.”

However, Kanso said he was pleased with the outcome of the reconciliatory meeting held between SSNP leader Assad Hardane and Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt in October. “The reconciliation took place because there was no significant political conflict between the two,” said Kanso, “They both find it necessary to establish good ties with Syria and agree on the important role the Resistance plays.”
