Aoun : Cabinet-formation negotiations suspended

BEIRUT- Social Affairs Minister Mario Aoun told An-Nahar newspaper that negotiations over the cabinet formation have been suspended, since “all the offers that were proposed are rejected,” unless the distribution of ministerial portfolios remains the same as the current government.

Aoun also said that Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun insists on naming his ministers, on keeping Telecommunications Minister Gebran Bassil in his post within the new cabinet and on being granted the Social Affairs Ministry.

“Bassil has informed our allies yesterday of Aoun’s point of view,” he said, stressing that they confirmed their full support, a reference to Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Speaker Nabih Berri.

It was in 2008 when actress/director Zeina Daccache could have access to one of Lebanon's prisons, Roumieh prison, to carry out her project: involve inmates as actors in a play titled "12 angry Lebanese” in art therapy through drama (or drama therapy). After been played last year within Roumieh prison, the play has led to a documentary, and recently won the Audience Award at the DOX BOX International Documentary Film Festival in Syria.

BEIRUT –Madonna and her manager will be designing a new line of sunglasses with designer duo Dolce and Gabbana. The eyewear line, called MDG, is part of MG Icon. The sunglasses collection, manufactured by Luxottica, will cost between $248 and $289 and be on sale at Dolce & Gabbana stores. They'll also be sold at Luxottica Group's Sunglass Hut chain and at other eyewear shops. The collection will debut in May.

BEIRUT - According to Lebanon this Week published by Byblos Bank, the number of incoming tourists to Lebanon totaled 106,005 in January 2010, constituting a decrease of 23% from 137,651 tourists in December 2009 and an increase of 37.1% from 77,308 tourists in January 2009. Arab tourists accounted for 46.5% of total visitors and were followed by visitors from Europe with 23.3%, Asia with 15.9%, America with 10.2%, and Oceania with 2.3% and Africa with 1.6%.
