BEIRUT - Speaking to As-Safir newspaper, deputy Spokesperson of the UNIFIL Andrea Tenenti denied Wednesday that there was any urgent factor that might affect the UNIFIL’s work in South Lebanon and said that the evaluation of danger was unchanged.
He added that the UNIFIL had comprehensive security procedures but was not implementing any further procedures. He added that UNIFIL was focusing on the situation in the South and the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
Tenenti also said that UNIFIL was cooperating with the Lebanese Armed Forces to ensure a secure atmosphere. Tenenti added that after discovering eight missiles in Naqoura last week, UNIFIL intensified its patrols but affirmed that the army will remain the primary authority responsible for security south of the Litani River.
