BEIRUT- March 14 forces MP Nayla Mouawad considered on Thursday that, “the scene of Free Patriotic Movement leader Gen. Michel Aoun’s visit to Syria was a sad one”.

After receiving Egyptian ambassador Ahmad el-Badawi Mouawad added, “Clearing ones conscience needs at least confessing mistakes and since that happened and reinstating relations between two countries and solving unsettled matters”. Mouawad criticized Aoun’s visit wondering if the unsettled issues regarding the missing Lebanese detainees in Syria prisons along the Shebaa farms file and the Syrian military base in Lebanon are discussed yet.

Mouawad said this visit is an insult to the Lebanese conscience and memory for what they  have suffered from the Syrian regime all through the years. Concerning Aoun’s statement that this visit will benefit the Middle Eastern Christians, Mouawad said it’s a discarded allegation, since no one has appointed General Michel Aoun to represent the Middle Eastern Christians.
