Raids carried out in Ain el-Helwe to find Fatah al-Islam fugitives
AFP - November 28, 2008, 12h15

BEIRUT - The Lebanon commander of the Palestinian Armed Struggle Command Munir Maqdah told AFP that the search continues for six members of Fatah al-Islam. The joint Palestinian security force is now carrying out raids in Ain el-Hilweh camp. The Lebanese army pressed officials in Ain el-Hilweh camps to hand over the suspects two weeks ago.

Maqdah said that the security force that includes members of various organizations is “doing its best to capture the fugitives” including Fatah al-Islam leader Abdul Rahman Awad. The official said it is in "the interest of all parties" to reach a solution to "maintain the stability in and around the camp and avoid a situation similar to that of Nahr el Bared”. The Assistant Representative of the Palestine Liberation Organization in Lebanon, Kamal Medhat said a week ago that Palestinian forces and the Lebanese army will resort to forced extradition if negotiations failed.
