Speaker Nabih Berri  discussed the establishment of an Arab Parliamentary Union headquarter in Damascus and the Iraqi security agreement with his Iraqi counterpart, Mahmud al-Mashhadani on Monday.
The meeting was held at Berri’s residence in Ain al-Tineh in the presence of Development and Liberation bloc MP Ali Bazzi

After the meeting Mashhadani stated that the issue of Iraqi refugees in Lebanon had “ended” ; adding that “Iraq now no longer suffers from this issue as we have been able to get financial support from the Iraqi government and facilitation from the Lebanese government,”
On the division of minority seats in Iraqi parliament, Mashhadani declared, “Iraq's parliament gave ethnic and religious sections what they want” according the facts each community had given “without technical or even statistical control.”

On the other hand regarding the Us-Iraq security agreement in light of the upcoming presidency of Democrat Barack Obama, Mashhadani said, "It is early to talk about the Iraq security agreement, and it will be agreed on if it recognizes the principles of national independence, sovereignty, and peace and guarantees there will be no attacks; if not, it will not be passed in any form.”
