BEIRUT - According to the daily ad-Diyar, Chief U.N. investigator Daniel Bellemare is requesting that the four Lebanese generals accused of involvement in the assassination of Rafik Hariri be transferred to the Netherlands.
The request must first be presented to Prosecutor General Saeed Mirza. It must then be approved by the Minister of Justice Ibrahim Najjar and the Lebanese cabinet. Ad-Diyar informs that the process is already underway.
The four generals are Jamil Sayyed, former head of General Security Department, Ali Hajj, former head of the Internal Security Forces, Raymond Azar, former head of Military Intelligence and Mustafa Hamdan, former head of the Presidential Guard.
They are all currently detained in the Roumieh prison.
