BEIRUT - Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem assures that the Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon has not been appointed yet. He denies all speculations claiming that the ambassador will be Christian or that it could be Faycal Mokdad.
In an interview to the daily an-Nahar, Moallem stressed on his country’s commitment to put into action the agreement made between Bachar al-Assad and Michel Suleiman at the Arab summit in Damascus.
The Syrian Head of diplomacy also explained that the army’s deployment along the border only aims at preventing smuggling into the Syrian territory.
Concerning Bachar al-Assad accusations, claiming that March 14 was backing up terrorist groups in Syria, Moallem simply said: “I did not read President Assad’s statement”.
