MARJAYOUN (AFP) - Israel detained a Lebanese man overnight in the border region of southern Lebanon, a security official said on Sunday. Ahmed Mohammed Mustafa was seized in the Wazzani district near the Lebanon-Israel border, the official told AFP.
"The circumstances of his arrest are not clear and we have been unable to determine if Mustafa had violated the Blue Line" frontier drawn by the United Nations after Israel ended its occupation of south Lebanon in 2000, he said. Wazzani area residents told AFP that Mustafa did not return home after
attending a family gathering in a border village on Saturday night.
In September, Israel arrested a Lebanese man during a drug seizure after he entered its territory. Israel said it was the second foiled drug trafficking attempt in a month in the region.
