BEIRUT - In an interview with An-Nahar newspaper issued on Monday, former MP Saleh Honein said that not holding by-elections in Baabda within two months after the assassination of MP Antoine Ghanem on September 19th, 2007 “was a violation of the constitution”.
But he added that holding the elections after the two-month period “was also a violation of the constitution”. Honein said that Interior Minister Ziad Baroud’s statement about the need to hold these elections as “incorrect, since the constitution is clear about this two-month period”.
