Prime Minister Tammam Salam on Friday announced that French President François Hollande has given his directives to speed up the handing over of arms to Lebanon, within the frame of the three-billion-dollar donation granted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Lebanese army through France.
"Our visit to France aims to bolster the bilateral relations and communicate with this great country that has historical ties with Lebanon. And today, under the leadership of President François Hollande, it is making tremendous efforts to back up in different fields," Salam told a news conference held at his residence in Paris, in the wake of his meeting with Hollande in Elysée Palace, on his last day in Paris.

"The visit was an occasion to discuss an array of affairs and we carefully listened to the position of the French officials from what is happening in Lebanon, the region and the world, especially that France is an influential state in the international policy and the regional action," he said.

He clarified that he discussed with the French officials the situation in Lebanon, confirming that France shall not be reluctant in helping Lebanon.

"The army and the security forces managed to spread security in Lebanon," he said.
