Prime Minister Tammam Salam met Monday with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin, over the Syrian refugees' crisis in Lebanon.
Salam said that a clash recently occurred in Tripoli between terrorists and the Lebanese Army, and the latter managed to stop terrorists and restore security and stability to the country.

"We are now in Germany which is hosting a conference on the situation of Syrian refugees in Lebanon and the region, and we believe that this issue is among the most serious cases encountered in Lebanon," he added.

"During our meetings we discuss reinforcing bilateral relations (...) Germany has an important role to play on the global level and within the EU, and is always careful to support the people and stability in the world," Salam said.

For her part, the German Chancellor expressed her country's solidarity with Lebanon which has been facing several issues, including those related "to the large influx of Syrian refugees."

"In a country of four million people, there are more than one million registered refugees, and the situation in Lebanon is also influenced by the Palestinian refugees," she said.
