According to the local newspaper Al-Mustaqbal, the United States is prepared to support the military and supply it with weapons to combat terrorism, reported the Daily Star.
This claim came during a meeting Gen. Jean Kahwagi held at the U.S. State Department as a response to the military needs of the poorly equipped Lebanese Army during its fight against ISIS.

According to the Daily Star, a source reported that “The aim of Kahwagi’s visit was to discuss the pressing needs of the Lebanese Army and seek additional military assistance from the United States.”

Referring to a meeting that took place in Washington on Tuesday between military leaders from the anti-ISIS coalition, Spokesperson for the White House National Security Council, Alistair Baskey, said the meetings were "part of ongoing efforts to build the coalition and integrate the capabilities of each country into the broader strategy."

Additionally, US President, Barack Obama said "There will be days of progress and there are going to be some periods of setbacks, but our coalition is united behind this long-term effort."

Over the past few weeks, the Lebanese Army has already begun to receive aid from the United States.
