The United States has decided to take action against the terrorist group, ISIS in Syria. With the aid of its coalition allies, including Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Jordan, the US sent fighter jets, bomber aircraft and Tomahawk missiles
These airstrikes were part of the military campaign that President Barack Obama recently authorized in attempts to defeat ISIS. While they were expected to last several hours long, the strikes lasted about 90 minutes, according to Al Arabiya News.

An anonymous US official said that Raqqa, a Syrian stronghold of Isis, was among the targets of the operation. Rami Abdulrahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, , told Reuters that the air strikes hit checkpoints in Raqqa city and surrounding areas. Dozens of Isis fighters were killed or wounded in the attacks, he added.

In the meantime, ISIS has threatened to get revenge. Abu Mohammed al-Adnani, the militant group’s spokesman said in a 42-minute audio statement released Sunday that the fighters were ready to battle the U.S.-led military coalition and called for attacks at home and abroad.
