Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri expressed his full support to the Lebanese Army and all the security forces. He said that he stands by them “to return the steadfast town of Arsal to the State because its residents have no choice but the State, and liberating the town from “ISIS” and “al-Nusra” front who have taken it hostage”.

In a statement published today in al-Hayat Newspaper, Hariri said: “There will be no leniency with the Takfiri and terrorist organizations and their destructive project which is alien to the people of moderation and tolerance”. He added: “They have no choice but to withdraw from the town and neither the State, nor we, will stand idle in the face of the plots of these groups.”

He also pointed out that “the Lebanese Army and all the security forces are, for the Future Movement, a red line, and attacks against them are prohibited, and this is our strategic and fixed stance toward the Takfiri groups.”

Hariri asked: “Is this how the favor is returned to the people of Arsal, who hosted their brothers fleeing Syria and offered them all kinds of support? Are they rewarded by being held hostages because they said no to these groups?”

He considered that this constitutes an aggression against Lebanon’s sovereignty and the sovereignty of the State over its territory.
