Geagea: "no need for participating in a government lacking minimum political change"

BEIRUT | iloubnan.info - January 19, 2014, 11h08
Lebanese Forces (LF) Leader, Samir Geagea, considered Saturday that it would be pointless to partake in a government, which lacks the minimum level of political change in its formation.

"Such political change can reflect positively on the country, and the minimum level needed can be translated by adopting the Baabda Declaration within the ministerial statement's political content," added Geagea. He stressed, herein, that the "Army, people, resistance" formula or any of its equivalents ought not to be included in said ministerial statement.

"March 14th Forces are in full coordination with each other on continuous basis," added Geagea, indicating that said Forces have agreed that there would be no discussion over the government formation without the above political prelude.

Furthermore, Geagea noted that in the absence of a uniting political government, President Michel Sleiman and PM-Designate Tamam Salam would be faced with the chance to form a neutral government prior to the current month's end.

Geagea's words came in a chat with press attendants following his meeting with French President's Personal Representative for Mid-Eastern Affairs, Emmanuel Bonn, accompanied by French Ambassador Patrice Paoli, who visited him in Maarab.
