Defining the Details: Zuhair Murad
By Élodie Morel Lebbos
November 02, 2008

Simplicity and perfectionism….two apparently antithetic characteristics which suit Zuhair Murad so well. Simplicity, because the 35-year-old dark-haired man’s welcoming to his Parisian show-room was straight forward. And perfectionism, because you feel that behind his quiet appearance, Zuhair Murad is constantly concerned with the tiny details…and these details are what make the difference in the eyes of professionals and clients.

Always listening to the person addressing him, Zuhair Murad weighs every word he says. He cares about using the right term, just as he cares about the finesse of the tiny hands working on his creations. During this particularly hot and sunny month of April, Zuhair Murad actively works on his new Fall-Winter 2007 – 2008 Haute Couture collection, which he will unveil next July in the French capital. Now, the dresses of his latest Spring–Summer 2007collection and other mementos that were showcased at the event organized by the Polish embassy last January are hung in his Parisian offices located next to the Champs Elysées. Displayed side by side, the designs draw a striking festival of colors and a rainbow of emotions. When asked about an attractive turquoise dress embroidered with gold, Zuhair Murad explained that for this Spring-Summer collection: "I chose the theme of Josephine de Beauharnais. In a book on Napoleon, I found an illustration of Josephine wearing a dress of this color. I wanted to recreate this same faded nuance. I worked on my palette of painting, until I found this particular color."
