Elie Saab’s Spring Summer Haute Couture collection was shown during the fashion week in Paris.
This 2008 collection is a celebration of the rarity of coloured diamonds, an ode to the delicacy of their transparency, to the uniqueness of their cut. It is a story of reflections.
The palette’s source is the facets of a perfectly cut stone: citrine yellow, aqua blue, palest pink. Fabrics are armfuls of organza, taffeta tulle, muslin and silk; prints play like light across the surface of the gowns.
Like a parure of precious gems the collection’s key pieces a perfectly cut cocktail suit in smoke grey – waisted and jewelled; a canary yellow gown gathered at the hip with stones; the palest sapphire silk tulle corsaged and empire line.
And finally a cascade of embroidered flowers - frosted and glistening – the ultimate jewel. |
