In his spring-summer 2007 collection« the consecration of fantasies», Zuhair Murad sheds light on a woman of character, an imperial woman, inspired by Joséphine de Beauharnais. The empire sizes mark the queens’ dresses. Tulle and organza, muslin and shantung, duchesse satin, laces and brocades: wonders of combined fabrics reminiscent of jewels embroidered with golden and silver threads, and set off with pearls, stones, paste and crystals. Tiers, drapes and pleats go together in subtle combinations. Curve-hugging gowns or twirling dresses, the creations of Zuhair Murad put the woman on a pedestal. References to Ancient History show clearly on fabulous models: Caesar laurels, triumphant eagles, neoclassical crowns, Renaissance flowers, caftan sleeves like eastern trophies, embroideries chiseled in bronze fabrics… a very meticulous work covering the body with romanticism. As for colors: bronze, golden brown, dusty pink, turquoise, old silver, faded mauve, pearly gray, copper green… Shimmering with shadows and light, these colors give life to the designer’s creations. At the end of the show, four wedding gowns unveil white shades covered with gold, silver or pearls, along with drapes, laces and tulle.
