On March 13, 2008, the social set in New York turned out for the event of the year -- The Young Fellows Ball at The Frick Museum in New York. Over 500 of New York’s young socials attended the Ball which was sponsored by Elie Saab and Ivanka Trump.
This year’s theme was “Un Ballo in Maschera,” inspired by a Renaissance portrait of a mysterious young woman that is the toast of the art world and on temporary view at The Frick Collection. The event took place in the main hall and guests had the opportunity to view the exhibition.
Twenty-nine women including Byrdie Bell, Meredith Melling Burke, Ann Caruso, Marina Rust Connor, Caitlin Davis, Kate Dimmock, Lydia Fenet, Nicole Hanley, Darcy Jones, Stephanie LaCava, Karla Martinez, Clare McKeon, Dabney Mercer, Tinsley Mortimer, Serena Nikkhah, Coralie Charriol Paul, Olivia de la Rama Pirovano, Marianna Sabater, Elisabeth Saint-Amand, Ferebee Taube, Ivanka Trump, Annabel Vartanian, Francesca (Chessy) Wilson and Laura Zukerman wore Elie Saab couture and ready-to-wear designs.
Elie Saab designed a strapless goddess-inspired dress for Ivanka Trump. According to Trump, “I adore Elie Saab and was so thrilled to wear one of his beautiful evening gowns.” Women on the committee wore dresses from the recent couture show in shades of pastel blue, silver and cream.
Elie Saab attended the event with his wife, Claudine. Mrs. Saab wore a stunning navy strapless dress with a simple mask. According to Elie Saab, “I enjoyed attending the Frick Ball and seeing so many gorgeous young women wearing my creations. It was an evening all about exuberant glamour and the setting was a perfect complement to my philosophy of women dressing in elegance and style.”
Proceeds from the Ball create social and educational opportunities for young art enthusiasts. The Frick Collection’s Education Program introduces young audiences to the pleasures of looking at art, while at the same time sharpening their observational and analytical skills.
