BEIRUT - Telecommunications Minister Gebran Bassil announced that 4000 new phone boxes will be established in Lebanon starting June 2009. To reach this aim, 150 phone boxes should see the light each month.

The majority of these phone boxes will be established in Beirut (35%), Mount Lebanon (28%), North Lebanon (14%), South Lebanon (17%), and the Bekaa Valley (6%).

Gebran Bassil declared that the revenues generated by these phone boxes reached 65 billion Lebanese pounds in 2007 against 52 billion last year.
