Anonymous group publishes a list of 77 hacked email accounts belonging to Ministry Of President Affairs, advisors of president Bachar Al Assad. The poor quality of the work produced and the fact tah most of the passwords are "12345" raises questions about how the Syrian president is advised to deal with the crisis.
Even among the hard-line defenders of Bachar al Assad, many admit that he is a very nice guy but really badly advised. Due to the impossibility for journalists to freely do their work in the country, it is impossible to verify if Assad is really a nice guy. What is certain however is that he is indeed, really badly advised.
Some of the Anonymous hackers managed to hack into the email accounts of some of Assad's closest advisers. They
published the list of the accounts they hacked together with the passwords
out of the 77 hacked accounts, 28 of them were using « 12345 » as password. 5 more were using « 123456 ». Some more subtle counsellors were clever enough to use « 123vivasyria » or « iloveyou ».
Out of the email, one three page communication plan emerged. It details how president Assad should handle the
interview he gave to ABC Barbara Walters on December the 7th
Among the brilliant ideas that the press service found, Assad was advised that the "American psyche can be easily manipulated"
Sheherazad Jaafari the author of the e-mail, a Syrian press attaché based in New York, listed points for Assad to consider in preparing for the high-profile interview.
She advised that « Mentioning "armed groups" in the interview is extremely important ». For Sheherazad Jafari, « The American audience doesn't really care about reforms. They won't understand it and they are not interested to do so. Thus, a brief mention of the reforms done in the past couple of months is more than enough. » however, it is « important to mention the huge economical and political transformation that Syria has gone through in the last 11 years. Somehow, there needs to be a clarification that reform started since H.E took the office. »
it is also « hugely important and worth mentioning that "mistakes" have been done in the beginning of the crises because we did not have a well-organized "police force". American Psyche can be easily manipulated when they hear that there are "mistakes" done and now we are "fixing it". »
Syrian officials also believe the same kind of clichés about Americans that American officials believe for Syria. Give them youtube and facebook and they will all be happy. Thus, the document stresses that « This is very important to the American mindset. The fact that Facebook and youtube are open now-especially during the crises- is important. »
The document also does not forget the basics :
Media are not covering the reality of event in Syria as the government wants and this is the reason why government can not trust them
Media never talk about the security forces killed by “armed groups”
Mistakes have been done and President did not ordered any killings
Syria is heading to a civil war as in Iraq
Opposition was kindly invited to dialogue but they refused because they are divided and they do not know what they want.
