Beirut - Lebanese newspapers have expressed their worry that the outcome of the French-Syrian summit’s might return negatively on the Lebanese file and considered that the summit will not lead to any real progress in the current negotiations between Damascus and Tel Aviv and awaiting the intervention of the United States.

Al Nahar newspaper wrote in her lead article, “The visit draws many questions concerning its possible results in which regards Lebanon’s file” and the major question was “whether there will be any deal on lebanon’s behalf, or is there any economical goals hidden behind the political goals which both declared to be the core of their discussions”.

The political analysis Sater Nour El Dine from Al-Safir newspaper estimated “that Lebanon was not a serious French excuse but however it was just a cover-up and which will end today when it is revealed that Sarkozy is present in Damascus for different priorities”.

On the other hand, Samir Geagea revealed his utter comfort regarding the matter and there will not be any pessimism toward the Lebanese file. In a statement to a Lebanese newspaper Geagea said the following, “France is an ally of Lebanon and there is no doubt that all the French leaders are worried about Lebanon”.
The French president Sarkozy will arrive on Wednesday to Damascus for a visit which will last for two days and discuss the Lebanese file and to hold an indirect negotiation between Syria and Israel.

And on the other hand Rajeh Khoury the political analysis from An-Nahar wrote “There are no illusions regarding state of communication to reach an agreement concerning the Syrian-Israeli conduct if there were no American partner strongly present and seriously assuring”.

Khoury considered that the summit which Qatar and Turkey will take part of on Thursday will be the fifth since the United States will be present highlighting “the difficulty of the participants to cut the leads without American blessing”.

Note mentioning that the Syrian president Bachar El Assad invited the French president during his stay in Paris in July to convince the United States to support the negotiations with the Israelis after the change of the current management.

Sarkozy accorded his openness to Damascus for making it easier to elect Michel Sleiman a Lebanese president after the long void in the presidential seat and Syria was accused to be responsible.
