BEIRUT - After a meeting he held with the Interior Minister Ziad Baroud, Misbah el-Ahdab urged the government to take part in development projects in Tripoli.
The MP of the capital of North Lebanon also declared that the inhabitants' rights cannot be neglected “whatever their religious belonging, as long as they don’t belong to fundamentalist or armed organizations”.
When asked about this issue, Mr. Ahdab said that there are always armed groups in Tripoli, and asked himself why those groups are established in the Northern city. “I am simply proud of the Resistance, but I asked myself why the arms of the Resistance are in Tripoli. As a man from Tripoli, I cannot accept that”, he concluded.
At least 23 persons were killed in these last four months in Tripoli during the clashes that are opposing the Sunnis of Bab el-Tebbaneh and the members of the Alawist minority of Jabal Mohsen.
