BEIRUT - Lebanese President Michel Suleiman met Wednesday with a delegation of the families of the Lebanese detainees in Syrian prisons, and assured them that their case will be taken “seriously".
The president explained that he had been taking care of the issue since his days as an Army Commander. He said that he understands the suffering of the detainees’ mothers.
“We cannot hasten the talks with Syrian authorities, and the cabinet should set a methodology through a committee in charge of solving this dossier by inquiring and investigating their whereabouts,” he noted.
”We will not close this dossier unless we receive information about the detainees’ fate, because their families have the right to know about them,” the president added.
