BEIRUT - According to Lebanon This Week published by Byblos Bank s.a.l, The Post & Telecommunications Ministry announced plans to expand access to high-speed ADSL Internet in Lebanon. The first phase of the plan involves the installation of ADSL in 13 phone centers in Beirut and its suburbs and will be completed by the end of October.
The second phase will see the installation of ADSL in 27 centers in Byblos, Batroun, and other regions in the North of the country.
According to official statistics, Lebanon has 330,000 Internet subscribers, but only 8% have ADSL. The ministry stated that the number of ADSL subscribers increased to 58,000 over the past 18 months, and that it is working with Ogero on a new decree to improve
the services of Internet service providers and data service providers.
