BEIRUT - Bank Audi's "Lebanon Weekly Monitor" reported that the International Finance Corporation released its annual survey titled “Doing Business in 2009”. This survey ranks economies from 1 to 181 on their ease of doing business. Lebanon ranked 99th place globally, down one spot from the 98th place in last year’s survey.
The IFC analyses economies in view of factors such as corruption level, unemployment, poverty, informality. 10 Indicators are used: starting a business, dealing with construction permits, employing workers, registering property, getting credit, protecting investors, trading across borders, paying taxes, enforcing contracts and closing a business. Equal weight is give to each indicator.
Lebanon came in 10th place out of the 19 MENA countries in terms of doing business. It ranked 4th when it comes to getting credit and 7th in terms of employing workers.
