BEIRUT - Foreign Direct Investments in Lebanon climbed up to 2.85 billion dollars in 2007, which lead to an increase of 3.9% compared to the 2.74 billion dollars of 2006.
This is the conclusion of the report of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in terms of world investment in 2008. This index classified the countries according to the FDI flows they receive compared to the size of their economy.

Among eighteen Arab countries, Lebanon is in the fourth position in terms of FDI beneficiaries. The Cedar Land is in the 5th position among the twenty economies in the Near East and the MENA region. Lebanon is also the largest beneficiary of DFI in West Asia for 2007.
These numbers published in the weekly economic report of Byblos Bank, Lebanon This Week, showed that FDI flows to Lebanon reached 2.79 billion dollars in 2005 and 2 billion in 2004.
Moreover, FDI flows to Lebanon registered 11.6% of the GDP in 2007, which is the highest percentage in the Arab world, and 64.1% of the total stable capitals, which made him come 2nd in such a ratio in the region.
On the global scale, Foreign Direct Investments increased to 1 833 billion dollars in 2007, which is a 30% increase compared to the 1411 billion of 2006.
