Ministry of Industry: a statistical database for the industrial sector sees the light
iloubnan.info - September 18, 2008

BEIRUT - Bank Byblos' "Lebanon this week" reported that the Ministry of Industry, the Lebanese industrial association, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), launched a project which aims at installing a statistical database to emphasize the different indicators of the industrial activities such as imports and exports.

The studies should identify all the industrial firms that include five employees and above, the financial information of these firms, and their wage bills.

This project aims at evaluating the sector’s contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The installation of this statistical database should take five months and the first results are expected in one year.
The estimated cost is of 295.000 dollars which would be financed through equal parts by the Ministry of Industry and the UNIDO.
