Writer Amin Maalouf is a candidate (just like writer and journalist Claude Imbert) for the resumption of the chair of the philosopher Jean-François Revel (who died on April 29th) at the Académie Française. This application was registered on March 16th by the Academy.

The election for Jean-François Revel's chair is planned on May 31st. Amin Maalouf was born in Beirut in 1949. He is the author of numerous novels which have for frame Lebanon and Mediterranean space. He obtained the Prize Goncourt in 1993 for "The rock of Tanios".
