Casey Kasem, died at the age of 82 on the morning of Father’s Day at a Washington state hospital. Many of you may know him as the voice of Shaggy in Scooby-Doo or American Top 40 talk show host. Having suffered from advanced Parkinson's disease and later Lewy Body Disease, a form of dementia, Kasem passed away leaving his family and fans devastated.
"Early this Father’s Day morning, our dad Casey Kasem passed away surrounded by family and friends," posted his daughter, Kerri, on Facebook. "Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken. Thank you for all your love, support and prayers. The world will miss Casey Kasem, an incredible talent and humanitarian; we will miss our Dad. With love, Kerri, Mike and Julie."

Being the son of Lebanese immigrants, born with the name Kemal Amin Kasem, and an active speaker for the great understanding of Arab-Americans — both on political issues involving the Mideast and on arts and media issues, his death created quite a buzz in Lebanon.
