Hassan Nasrallah during Ashura ceremony: “we have to reframe the Syrian-Lebanese relations”
BEIRUT | iloubnan.info - December 27, 2009
“The US imperial project is what threatens our nation now”, Hezbollah's General secretary said during Ashura ceremony on Sunday. “We condemn its wars and its crimes, especially in Iraq and Afghanistan (...) we urge people not to be deceived by their promises of freedom, democracy and human rights”.

One year after the Israeli operation in Gaza, Hassan Nasrallah said that “there are no boundaries for Israel terrorism, and let’s remind the world today about its crimes in Gaza and in Lebanon, its continuous threats to Jerusalem and the Palestinian population”, while calling for a “withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.”

While condemning “massacres that are taking place in Iraq”, Hassan Nasrallah said “it became normal news for all the Arab and Islamic world”.

Concerning the Syrian-Lebanese relations, he said that “We overcame in Lebanon one of the most difficult phases, and we have now to reframe the Syrian-Lebanese relations. “Our new cabinet of national unity gives our country a new chance to develop,” he said, while calling for a “cooperation hand-by-hand.”

While renewing “his greetings to Jesus in the memory of his birth”, Hassan Nasrallah urged the Christians to stay “far from eager speeches and tension among themselves regarding current and future options”. He called them for “calm discussion”, and asked them “learn lessons from previous experiences”.

“I tell Christians as a Lebanese that their interest is within Lebanon, not abroad”, he said. It is in Christians’ interest to be more open to the rest of the Lebanese.”
Hassan Nasrallah urged Muslims and Christians to be “on good terms among themselves” “Many people tried to create strife among Muslims in Lebanon, but we overcame this difficult period.” “Now we are open for a rapprochement.”

Hezbollah’s General secretary said: “I tell Israeli again that we will fight like Karbali and Husseini soldiers (a reference to Ashura’s commemoration of the death of Imam Hussein at the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD)” “ we will only have victories”
